We also have snacks in the waiting area and a Free Food Locker. Students are welcome to grab a quick snack during the school day or pick up some groceries to take home at the end of the day.
If a student would like to make an appointment, Kathy will:
Check if there is already a permission/consent form on file. If not, we’ll call the parent/guardian for verbal consent.
Work with students to figure out the best time to come in without missing core or important classes.
Give the student a pass to return at the appointment time.
When a student comes back for the appointment with Linda, our Nurse Practitioner, the student will be asked to fill out a demographic form. This form helps us learn a little about the student—such as age, language, and race/ethnicity—so that care is personalized and added correctly to the student's EPIC health record. A student may opt out of answering any or all of the questions on the form.
During the appointment with Linda, she may:
Ask questions to understand your health concerns.
Provide education on wellness, reproductive health, and other topics.
Complete or schedule screenings (see our Screenings tab for more details). Screenings may occur the same day or at a follow-up appointment. Students may opt-out of any or all questions on the survey.
If the student has questions about the Free Food Locker, health insurance, primary care, or booking appointments at outside healthcare facilities, the student can meet with Dayza, who is bilingual, in Room 1212. Students can make an appointment with her directly. If Dayza is not available, Kathy will make the appointment.
For information about the Youth Advisory Council (YAC)—a student leadership program focused on improving our school's climate—or about volunteering opportunities (including National Honor Society hours), please ask to see Karen Hurst, our Program Manager. If she is not availalble, Kathy will make an appointment.
Hope to see you soon at the GHS Student Health Center!
